Spektrum der Wissenschaft Verlagsgesellschaft mbH is Germany’s largest popular science platform, with a long-standing tradition of communicating science to broad audiences and with a firmly established market position. As part of a strategic decision to divest its consumer media businesses (consisting of Spektrum and its sister publication
Scientific American), publicly-listed academic publisher
Springer Nature has sold Spektrum to Munich-based consumer publishing house
GeraNova Bruckmann Verlagshaus, which has its own suite of science magazines, such as PM and National Geographic. The transaction is subject to regulatory approval and is expected to complete later in the year. With this deal, Spektrum becomes part of an organisation with strong consumer media expertise and the ambition to invest in its future. For us at
Park 56, it has been a pleasure to support Spektrum and Springer Nature with this transaction.
